Student Agency and Library Engagement

Agency is a core source of happiness for humans and a powerful way to motivate and connect to students. Building on current best research, this presentation will showcase how we can utilise student agency to improve our library programs, borrowing rates and student engagement. This presentation offers a practical, innovative approach to student and library management that will assist library and information professionals to build a future-focussed connection strategy with their school community.

Creating Educational Immersive Experiences

Immersive experiences are high-interest learning environments that make use of physical and emotional connections to subject knowledge. This presentation will showcase the building blocks of a successful immersive experience, including creating student buzz, using narrative to drive engagement, and creating challenging and satisfying game elements. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the complementary nature of physical and digital learning experiences and how to incorporate this knowledge into their own information services.
